ABOUT ME

Dr. Laura J Singer-Magdoff, a family life educator, marital therapist and innovator, has been a pioneer in the field of marital therapy. By specializing today in SECOND CHANCE: FIRST CHOICE psychotherapy she again demonstrates her innovative ideas.

Dr. Singer-Magdoff has had more than fifty years of experience as a clinician. She graduated from Columbia University, Teachers' College with a specialty in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Marriage and Family Therapy and works with a broad spectrum of clients. She has served as president of The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.) Among her areas of expertise are: Second Chance Therapy; Divorce as Development;

Dr. Singer-Magdoff has been a frequent guest on radio and public affairs programs. She created and hosted a program based on relationships,, an award-winning series, "LIVING TOGETHR' on Metromedia Television. S.A.M. (SAVE A MARRIAGE, INC.) a telephone hotline for marriages in distress has been featured on major evening news and public television. This was an outgrowth of Dr. Singer-Magdoff's professional work at Columbia Teachers College and focused on strengthening relationships.

Dr. Singer-Magdoff was an adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University,
Teachers College. She is a supervisor in the graduate department of psychology at City University of New York, a fellow and past president of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; and has been a visiting lecturer at the New School for Social Research. She is listed in Who's Who in America...In the World of...American Women...In the East; and in The International Scholars Directory. Dr. Singer-Magdoff has been intstrumental in the pioneering use of both film and videotape to supervise the diagnosis and treatment provided by psychotherapists and marital therapists. She founded and continues to be president of Interpersonal Development Institute (IDI).
